Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Indianapolis, IN - The Cincinnati Cyclones (12-3-2-0) defeated the Indy Fuel, 3-0, on Friday night. Brady Vail netted a pair of goals for the Cyclones, while forward Justin Vaive tallied a lone marker for Cincinnati. Goaltender Jonas Johansson was perfect, stopping all 32 shots he faced for his second shutout in the last three games.
After a scoreless opening period, Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead early in the second when forward Jesse Schultz sent a pass from below the goal line to Vaive in front, and he slammed it in to give the Cyclones the lead. Cincinnati extended their advantage to a pair midway through the frame when Vail unleashed a shot from the left side through traffic that beat Indy goaltender Matt Tomkins, putting the Cyclones ahead, 2-0, after 40 minutes.
Vail capped off the Cyclones victory with an empty netter from the Cincinnati defensive zone with 45 seconds remaining in the third to seal the 3-0 'Clones win.
Indy outshot Cincinnati, 32-31, while the Cyclones penalty kill was a perfect 4-for-4 on the evening in the win. The Cyclones continue their three-game weekend on Saturday night in Ft. Wayne against the Komets. Face-off is slated for 7:30pm ET.
