
Garteig Shuts Door on Solar Bears

Orlando Solar Bears News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Despite a season-high 38 saves from Corbin Boes, the Orlando Solar Bears (8-7-2-0) were unable to solve goaltender Michael Garteig at the opposite end of the ice, as Orlando fell to the Newfoundland Growlers (14-6-0-0) by a 3-0 score on Friday night at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.
The Growlers opened the scoring midway through the first period when Giorgio Estephan knocked in a back-door feed from Josh Kestner past Boes at the 10:22 mark.
Estephan extended Newfoundland's lead to two goals with a power-play strike at 6:12 of the second period.
The Growlers added a shorthanded goal at 2:39 of the third period to cap the scoring when Scott Pooley stuffed a pass from J.J. Piccinich past Boes.
Boes took the loss with 38 saves on 41 shots against; Garteig earned the victory with 25 stops on 25 shots against.
NOTABLES
The game marked the first time this season that Orlando failed to score, and the first time the Solar Bears had been shutout since Feb. 21, 2018 vs. Florida (4-0 loss).
Cody Donaghey led Orlando with four shots on goal.
