CONEY ISLAND, NY - Stifled by Jersey Shore pitching, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets mustered just two hits in a 3-0 loss to the BlueClaws Thursday night at Maimonides Park.

BIG MOMENTS

Jersey Shore's Kevin Gowdy tossed six no-hit innings, striking out five with one walk in the victory. Gowdy retired the first 12 hitters and pitched one over the minimum. Closer Blake Brown struck out four in two innings for the save.

The BlueClaws scored three runs against Jose Butto in the fifth inning, scoring on Corbin Williams' RBI single, Casey Martin's RBI groundout, and Vito Friscia's bases-loaded walk to take a 3-0 advantage.

Brett Baty's double with one out in the seventh broke the Jersey Shore no-hitter that lasted 6 1/3 innings.

NEWS AND NOTES

With a seventh-inning single, Brett Baty has hits in eight of his past nine games. He leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage, and 12 doubles.

Brooklyn reliever Conner O'Neil recorded his first strikeout of 2021, coming back from Tommy John surgery.

The Cyclones were shut out for the fourth time this season.
