Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI - Ryan Dingle's second goal of the night, 59 seconds into overtime gave Augusta a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday night. The loss sent the crowd of 6430 at U.S. Bank Arena home dejected.
Augusta opened the scoring at 16:29 of the opening period, when rookie Ryan Dingle picked up his first goal of the season from Matt Christie. The shots on goal were even at eight apiece in the first period.
The second period did not have any scoring, but the Cyclones outshot the Lynx by a 14-7 margin.
The scoring frenzy hit in the third period, as Avery Wilson leveled the scores 1:43 into the final frame with Mathieu Aubin and Barret Ehgoetz adding the assists. Augusta would regain the lead less than two minutes later when John Laliberte scored the first of his two goals on the night at 3:07 to regain the lead for the Lynx. A power play goal by Jean-Michel Daoust at 5:18 from Matt Syroczynski and Bryan Schmidt tied the game at 2-2.
The Cyclones grabbed the lead for the first time on the night at 7:43, as Thomas Beauregard netted his seventh goal of the year on the power play from Tyler Howells and Schmidt added the helpers.
From there, Augusta would net the final goals of the night. Laliberte would get his second of the night and third of the season at 15:29 and force the overtime.
In the extra frame, just 59 seconds into the session, Dingle got his second of the night and second of the year from Adrian Veideman to end the game. Shots on goal favored Cincinnati for the night, 32-28.
The overtime loss dropped the Cyclones (6-3-1) into second place in the North Division, one point behind Reading.
A crowd of 6430, fifth-largest in club history, was on hand to witness the contest, the largest since the Cyclones were activated after a two-year hiatus from 2004-2006. The last time Cincinnati had a larger crowd was Jan. 24, 2003 when 6814 were on hand to battle Wheeling.
The Cyclones are at Dayton on Tuesday and return to U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday (Nov. 14) for a 7:30pm clash with Trenton. The highlight of the week comes on Friday (Nov. 16), when Wheeling rolls in for Rich Franklin Night at 7:30pm.
