Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA - Even though the Chiefs wore different uniforms against the Reading Royals on Saturday night, it was the same result as the first time the teams met with Reading scoring six goals in the winning effort.

Johnstown donned throwback jerseys honoring the Johnstown Bluebirds, the first pro team to play in Johnstown. The teams were tied after the first twenty minutes as Ned Lukacevic and Mike Knight traded goals for their teams respectively.

Chris Blight scored the first of his three second-period goals at :31 of the second, but Andrew Martens drew the Chiefs even again with his second tally of the year. Blight finished off his natural hat trick with goals at 8:09 and 14:01 against Chiefs' goalie Ryan Nie.

Blight's fourth of the evening opened the scoring of the third period, and Patrick Jarrett extended the lead even further when he slapped one into the net off of Nie's glove hand.

Nie finished with 15 saves against 21 shots while his counterpart Jonathan Quick saved 19 of the Chiefs shots. Reading had a strong power play, going 3-for-6 while Johnstown scored a power play goal for the third straight game and finished at 1-for-8.

The Chiefs next home game is Friday November, 16 at 7:05 against the Dayton Bombers. That game will be a White Out the Rink game as the BIC Corporation is sponsoring a white Chiefs t-shirt that will be given to the first 3,000 fans at that game. Great seats are still available, call 536-5156 or go to www.johnstownchiefs.com to get your tickets today!
