Cyclones Goaltender Jeremy Smith Recalled to Milwaukee
October 12, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that goaltender Jeremy Smith has been recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. To fill Smith's place on the roster, Cincinnati has signed Pat Street as an emergency backup goaltender.
Smith, the 21-year-old Nashville Predators draft choice, is making his second career trip to the AHL. Last season, Smith appeared for five minutes in one game with the Admirals, making one save in a 5-1 loss to Texas on December 4, 2009. He is the second Cyclones player this season to receive a call up to the American Hockey League. Forward Scott Reynolds was summoned by the Rochester Americans on October 7.
With the Cyclones, the Dearborn, Michigan native enjoyed an award-winning rookie season in 2009-10. Smith posted a 23-15-0-2 record during the regular season with two shutouts, earning him a spot in the ECHL All-Star Game. In the postseason, Smith went 9-7-1 with a 2.67 GAA, a 90.7 save percentage, and one shutout. Upon the completion of the Kelly Cup Finals, Smith was awarded Co-Playoff MVP accolades, sharing the honor with teammate (and fellow goalie) Robert Mayer.
The Admirals host the Chicago Wolves this Friday night at 8:00pm ET. The Cyclones, meanwhile, will battle the Elmira Jackals on Friday night to kick-off the 2010-11 regular season on Friday night at 7:35pm. Hear the game live on CyclonesHockey.com beginning at 7:15pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.
