
Stingrays Fall in Overtime to Road Warriors in Lone Preseason Contest

Greenville, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays fell 3-2 in overtime to the Greenville Road Warriors Tuesday night at Bi-Lo Center in the team's only preseason contest. Stingrays rookie goaltender Jared DeMichiel made 42 saves on 45 shots in the loss.
The Road Warriors opened the scoring early in the first period when forward Andrew Carroll broke free at 5:36 beating DeMichiel with a wrist shot low glove-side. Forward Mark Voakes and defenseman Blake Parlett recorded assists.
Stingrays forward Jake Hauswirth tied the game with a power play tally at 2:27 of the second period from forwards Dan Eves and Rob Ricci. Greenville reclaimed the lead at 13:34 as forward Shane Harper earned his first goal of the preseason from defensemen Trevor Glass and Parlett. Late in the middle frame, Stingrays forward Trent Campbell lit the lamp on the man advantage to make it 2-2 at 19:13. Forwards Nikita Kashirsky and David deKastrozza received assists.
After a scoreless third period, Road Warriors forward Brendan Connolly iced the game with an unassisted marker at 3:08 of overtime. Road Warriors goalie Dov Grumet-Morris kicked aside 26 of 28 Stingrays chances in the win. The Stingrays finished the night 2-for-6 on the power play while Greenville went 1-for-7.

The Stingrays drop the puck on their 18th season of hockey in the Low Country on Friday, October 22 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Opening Weekend is set for Friday, November 5, Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at North Charleston Coliseum.
