Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
KETTERING, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones got a hat trick from Thomas Beauregard but it was not enough in a 7-5 loss at Wheeling on Friday night. Seven third period power play chances yielded one goal for Cincinnati in the defeat.
The Cyclones erupted for three first period goals, two of them shorthanded. Sean Perkins scored 5:04 into the frame after Cincinnati had been shorthanded for more than four minutes. Stephen Werner and Kyle Rank chipped in with the assists. Wheeling leveled the scores at 1-1, when Nick Johnson scored at 12:03. Cincinnati grabbed the lead again when Thomas Beauregard re-directed a shot from Werner and Billy Irish-Baker to give the Cyclones a 2-1 edge while shorthanded. Wheeling's Andrew Lord evened things up at 2-2, when he scored at 18:35, but again Beauregard quickly restored the lead eleven seconds later-from Barret Ehgoetz and Joe Ryan.
Wheeling scored the first three goals of the second period, as Jeremy Scherlinck (7:28), Aaron Clark (9:26) and Lord (15:32)-helped the Nailers grab a 5-3 lead. The Cyclones crept to within one at 5-4, when Barret Ehgoetz scored at 17:53 coming down the slot and taking a feed from Olivier Latendresse and Joe Grimaldi.
Wheeling extended its lead to 6-4, when Rob Sirianni scored at 7:19. Cincinnati got a power play goal from Beauregard to complete the hat trick at 12:13 from Latendresse and Matt Macdonald. An empty net goal from Jordan Morrison at 19:55 ended the scoring.
