October 17, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV -The Las Vegas Wranglers announced three separate transactions today. Left wing Shawn Limpright has agreed to terms for the 2008-09 season. Forward Matt Beaudoin has been added to the roster and placed on the seven-day injured reserve list. Bryan Bridges has been added as an emergency back up goaltender. The Wranglers begin their sixth season in the ECHL at Alaska tonight at 8:15 PM (PST).
"Shawn Limpright is a player who brings a lot to the ice every night," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He was an excellent leader last year and he should be a big help with another young team this season. Shawn can be a bit of a pest to other teams and he has good playmaking skills. Once again, we expect him to be a major part of our success here in Las Vegas."
Limpright was medically cleared to play after undergoing off-season surgery. The left wing enters his fifth season with the team, joining Mike McBain as the only other player in team history to do so. Limpright is the Wranglers all-time leader in points (131), assists (92) and penalty minutes (477). The St. Adolphe. MB native needs 12 games played to become the second player in team history to reach 200 games played.
Last season, the left winger scored 12 goals and added 19 assists for 31 points in 44 games. He also finished second on the team with 119 penalty minutes. In November, Limpright passed defenseman Jason McBain for the all-time team lead in assists. The veteran forward also took over the all-time team lead in scoring, surpassing Dan Tudin's total of 119 points with Las Vegas. Overall, the left winger has played in 352 career games, scoring 85 goals and adding 143 assists for 228 points. Over his seven-year career, Limpright has 860 penalty minutes over five seasons.
Forward Matt Beaudoin has been added to the roster after spending training camp with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. The second-year forward has been placed on the seven-day IR with a disclosed injury. Goalie Bryan Bridges will be the emergency back up this weekend in Anchorage. He played in two preseason games for Las Vegas this year, going 2-0-0 with 46 saves.
Las Vegas begins the team's sixth season in the ECHL tonight and Saturday in Anchorage, AK. The Wranglers will meet the Alaska Aces at 8:15 pm (PST) both nights at Sullivan Arena. Las Vegas will open at home on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:30 pm at the Orleans Arena against the Ontario Reign.
2008-09 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
