Blades finalize roster for opening night

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that goaltender Anton Khudobin has been assigned to the club by the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League and that forward Justin Bowers has been traded to the Dayton Bombers.

Khudobin (pronounced: koo-DOH-bin) joins the Everblades after splitting the 2007-08 season between the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL and the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. The 22-year-old impressed while with the Wildcatters compiling a record of 20-1-4 with a 1.98 goals against average in 27 games. His efforts with Texas last season earned him a spot on the 2008 American Conference All-Star team.

While in Houston the native of Kazakhstan appeared in 12 games with the Aeros although was the goalie of record in only five of those games going 2-2-1 with a 1.99 GAA. A former 7th round draft pick by the Wild in 2004, Khudobin has also played at the top level with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Russia Super League.

In a separate move, the trade of Bowers to Dayton completes the previous trade between the clubs during the summer in which Florida acquired the rights to Yannick Tifu.

Also today Cameron announced that forward Kevin Baker will be the team's captain for the 2008-09 season.
