Cutters Victorious on Road against State College

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters visited Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for one final during the 2015 regular season as they picked up a 2-1 win against the State College Spikes. Williamsport produced all of their offense in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring a single run in each. The Cutters will finish the regular season at home tomorrow against the Spikes before starting the NYPL playoffs on Wednesday.
The Crosscutters gave the fans in State College another exciting game as a pitcher's duel would be in order. Luis Morales was in full control of his pitches on the night as he kept the State College offense off of the scoreboard. Morales would receive some help from his defense to get him out of the bottom of the first inning as Jan Hernandez started the inning ending 5-4-3 double play. The Cutters turned a 6-3 double play to end the bottom of the third inning.
Williamsport jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning as Brendon Hayden picked up his first hit of the night to lead off the inning. With Hayden standing on second base and two outs in the inning, Austin Bossart singled into right field allowing Hayden to score. Morales would respond with a solid bottom half of the inning as he retired the Spikes in order, picking up a strikeout along the way.
Jose Pujols would double the Cutters lead in the top of the sixth inning with his second hit of the night. Pujols' RBI single would score Mark Laird to make it 2-0. Williamsport turned to the bullpen in the bottom of the seventh inning as Andrew Godail took over for Morales. The Spikes score their only run of the night in the bottom of the eighth inning against Kenny Koplove. A two out single would score a run from third base to make it 2-1. Rob Tasin retired all four batters that he faced to record his 17th save of the season. WP: Luis Morales (2-2 2.90 ERA)
