Cutters Hold On for Wild Win

The Williamsport Crosscutters scored a season-high 13 runs on Thursday night as they defeated the Auburn Doubledays 13-12 in a wild game at Historic Bowman Field.

The home team broke it wide open in the bottom of the first, sending 11 men to the plate en route to seven runs.

The Doubledays answered with five runs on five hits in the top of the second to cut Williamsport's lead to 7-5.

Williamsport went up 8-5 in the third when Kenny Miramontes grounded into a run-scoring double play. The Cutters broke it open again with a five-run fifth inning, using one hit and five walks to make it 13-5.

The Doubledays scored one run in the sixth and three in the seventh to trim the Cutters lead to 13-9. Angelbirth Montilla homered as part of the three-run seventh inning.

The visitors tacked on two more in the eighth on a home run by Russell Moldenhauer off Colton Murray. They added one more in the ninth off Austin Brough, but came up one run short to lose 13-12.
