Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers fell for the third straight night, as the Vermont Lake Monsters won their third game in a row, defeating the Tigers 6-3 on Thursday night at Dodd Stadium.
With the Tigers on top 2-1 in the third inning, Vermont's Jordan Tripp came to the plate with two runners on and smacked his third homerun of the season, a three-run shot over the left field wall to give the Lake Monsters a two-run lead, 4-2.
Connecticut cut the deficit to one in the fifth inning on a solo homer from P.J. Polk, his first bomb of the season.
However, Vermont came right back to score two runs in the sixth on an RBI triple from Chad Oberacker followed by an RBI base hit from Chih Fang Pan to extend their lead to 6-3, a lead they would not relinquish.
Brennan Smith suffered his first loss of the year for Connecticut, while Vermont's J.C. Menna earned his second win of the season.
The Tigers will try to salvage the final game of the three-game series with the Vermont Lake Monsters tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM at Dodd Stadium.
