Cutters Fans Select Kerry as Presidential Winner

New Haven County Cutters News Release
West Haven, CT- Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry won an important Northeast vote Monday night.
He was the choice of 54 per cent of the baseball fans participating in a Bobblection during a New Haven County Cutters Northeast League game at Yale Field.
While President George W. Bush received only 46 per cent of the votes in Connecticut, fans in four of the other six participating cities spread across much of the United States voted for the incumbent to give Bush an overall victory, four precincts to three.
Yale Field was considered an ideal polling site since both Presidential candidates are graduates of Yale University.
"This appears to be an early indicator of how the public will vote in November," said Jeff Goldklang, group senior director of The Goldklang Group, which operated the Bobblection.. "Only the public won't leave voting booths with Bobblehead dolls on Election Day."
"We consider our vote final with no potential for a recount or dispute," said Marie Heikkinen Webb, the Cutters' assistant general manager, who supervised the West Haven voting.
Fans passing through the turnstiles were directed to a polling station where they "cast a vote" by choosing a bobblehead doll modeled after their preferred candidate.
The Northeast League's other participant, the Brockton (MA) Rox, and the St. Paul (MN) Saints also went for Kerry. The precincts supporting the President were the Charleston (SC) RiverDogs, Fort Myers (FL) Miracle, Hudson Valley (NY) Renegades, and the Sioux Falls (SD) Canaries.
Bobblexit polling revealed early in the evening that the President had an advantage in the voting, with baseball fans in favor of his policies on important Bobbleissues such as wood vs. aluminum bats, natural grass vs. artificial turf, the War between the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Cubs vs. Cardinals and switch-hitters.
The Bobblection was conducted by the Goldklang Group, a Florham Park, NJ-based ownership, management and consulting firm, which considered the event the "first organized promotion of its kind in professional sports to be performed simultaneously by different teams in different markets."
The Goldklang Group is operated by Marv Goldklang and partner Mike Veeck. Known for a "Fun is Good" attitude and "Off the Wall" antics, clubs associated with the Group have repeatedly made national headlines for their promotional endeavors.
