Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve are pleased to announce that Blair County Ballpark will host a unique event on Sunday, July 4 that will provide entertainment and fun activities for people of all ages.
The Curve will be holding "Ballpark Block Party 2010" featuring a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment that will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks show at 10:15 p.m.
In addition to the fireworks show, the affordable evening will feature live music from three area bands, and plenty of kids activities.
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and fans are urged to bring their gloves and a baseball to enjoy an on-field catch from 6:00-6:30 p.m. in the outfield. The evening will also include live music beginning at 7:00 p.m. with entertainment being provided by three different, unique local bands: Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band, The Hope Fallacy, and 7th Gear.
Admission to the Curve's Ballpark Block Party will be $5 for adults and $3 for kids (age 12 and under). Full season ticket holders of the Altoona Curve will be granted free admission.
Parking for the Ballpark Block Party will be $2 to park in the Curve's V.I.P. lots and $1 to park vehicles in the garage located between the ballpark and Lakemont Park. Season ticket holders that have season parking passes may use those to park free of charge.
In addition to live music, fans can expect to enjoy a bevy of the kids games that are available in the Galliker's Dairy Fun Zone and Weis Playland just as they would during Altoona Curve games. The Curve inflatables will be available for kids to enjoy, as well. Finally, fans can take part in many of the on-field contests that make a Curve game at Blair County Ballpark a truly unique experience. All the while, there will be updates on the Curve game in Reading that night.
"Blair County Ballpark is one of the most beautiful venues in Central Pennsylvania," said General Manager Rob Egan. "In the past when we have had Altoona Curve games at BCB on July 4, they've proven to be very memorable nights for those that attend."
Egan added, "Even though the Curve schedule doesn't have a home game July 3 or 4, we have been looking at different options for an event at Blair County Ballpark for several months. In the end, we decided to feature live music along with fireworks as the primary entertainment while also incorporating some of the kid- and family-friendly activities we normally have for Curve games. The event could be summed up by saying we'll have everything but the game."
Media sponsors for the event are Forever Broadcasting and the Altoona Mirror.
Tickets for the Ballpark Block Party are on sale now. They can be purchased by calling toll-free 877-99-CURVE, going online at www.altoonacurve.com or visiting the Curve box office in person during normal business hours.
