New Britain, CT - With the Eastern League's 2010 All-Star Game now less than a month away - it is scheduled for July 14th at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA - the historic baseball circuit is now fully engaged in selecting the 48 players who are most deserving of the coveted All-Star designation. And Rock Cats fans at New Britain Stadium - and beyond - can now play a very direct role in determining who gets to play!
When the Eastern and Western Division All-Stars line up for pre-game introductions in Pennsylvania's capital city next month, the players dancing out of the two dugouts will have been chosen by a combination of League Managers, Broadcasters, Media members - and most numerously - fans.
Each of the League's two Divisions will be represented at the 2010 Mid-Summer Classic by 24 players. The respective squads will each be comprised of 10 Pitchers and 14 Position Players. Balloting is now underway within each voting bloc, with fans able to vote both electronically on the Eastern League website ( www.easternleague.com), through a link on the Rock Cats' website ( www.rockcats.com) - or via a hard copy paper ballot available at New Britain Stadium. The traditional paper ballots - beware of hanging chads! - will also be available at a variety of community locations where Rock Cats players, mascots, and team personnel make public appearances. To be counted, all votes must be entered by 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 27th. The League Office in Portland, ME will tally all entries and announce the 2010 Eastern League All-Stars at a press conference on Tuesday, June 29th.
