Altoona Curve News Release
The Altoona Curve completed a three-game sweep over the Harrisburg Senators on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-1 in front of 7619 at Metro Bank Park.
Altoona (16-6) scored its first four runs in the second inning, touching up Stephen Strasburg (3-1) in his third home start. The first five batters reached base safely in the inning, on two walks and three singles, with the third single coming from Alex Presley, and driving in two runs.
The Senators (10-13) did strike first in the game, scoring a single run in the first inning off of Jesus Valdez' RBI single. The hit drove home Ofilio Castro, who had singled earlier in the inning. The run came off of Justin Wilson, who threw four innings as the starter for the Curve.
Michael Dubee (1-0) relieved Wilson, and pitched three perfect innings to pick up the win. He got support from his hitters in the top of the seventh, when two walks, a sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly led to the final two Altoona runs.
The Senators continue their ten-game homestand tomorrow evening against the Bowie Baysox, in the first game of a four-game set. Matt Chico (1-2, 3.20) is scheduled to start for the Sens, against Ryohel Tanaka (2-1, 3.57) of the Baysox. Game time is 7 PM, with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:45 on 1460 AM The Ticket, and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
