Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Altoona Curve continued its hot-hitting ways, racking up 15 hits on its way to a 9-2 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Saturday night at Metro Bank Park, in front of a crowd of 5625.
Every non-pitcher with an at-bat contributed at least one hit for the Curve, with Alex Presley collecting four himself, as the Curve improved to a league-leading 15-6. Derek Hankins moved to 2-0 with the win, while Tom Milone (1-1) took the loss for the Senators.
The Sens (10-12) scored their two runs in the eighth, after loading the bases with no outs. Pedro Lopez drove in Jhonatan Solano with a sacrifice fly, and then Jesus Valdez singled home Ofilio Castro, to make it 8-2 at the time.
Solano and Valdez were the two main bright spots for the Senators offensively. Solano doubled twice, walked and scored a run, while Valdez finished three-for-three, with a double and an RBI. Michael Martinez had the only other hit for the Sens.
The Senators will look to salvage one win out of the three-game series with Altoona Sunday afternoon at 2 PM, when Stephen Strasburg takes the mound. Strasburg is 3-0, with a 0.52 earned run average. He will be opposed by Justin Wilson (1-1, 6.57) of the Curve. The radio broadcast of the game begins at 1:45 PM on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
