Fisher Cats Blast Phillies 16-5 for Sixth Straight Win

Manchester, NH- New Hampshire broke a 5-5 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to a sixth straight win beating the Reading Phillies 16-5 on Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

The Fisher Cats (16-7) batted around twice in the game. They scored four runs in the bottom of the second, knocking Phillies starter Phillippe Aumont out of the game. Jonathan Diaz (3-for-4, 3B, and Darin Mastroianni (1-for-4, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB) each RBI hits in the frame as New Hampshire built a 4-1 lead. In the fourth inning, Callix Crabbe (2-for-3, HR, 4 RBI, BB, 2 R) reached on an infield single, stole second and third and scored on a Brad Emaus sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.

The Phils (8-15) got one back on Michael Spidale's RBI groundout in the fourth inning, then tied the game in the fifth. Ozzie Chavez reached on an infield single, Tyson Gillies walked and Domonic Brown (1-for-3, HR, 4 RBI) hit a three-run homer to make it 5-5.

New Hampshire answered by sending 11 men to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brian Jeroloman (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R) singled home the first run, Mastroianni walked with the bases loaded and Crabbe blasted a grand slam off losing pitcher Ty Taubenheim (0-1) to make it 11-5. Adam Loewen also added a sacrifice fly in the frame.

Jeroloman added a solo homer, his third of the season, in the sixth inning. Manny Mayorson and Diaz had RBI singles in the seventh and Emaus added an RBI groundout in the eighth.

Zach Stewart improved his record to 2-1, allowing five runs in six innings, allowing seven hits, walking two and striking out one. Dumas Garcia, Bubbie Buzachero and Vince Bongiovanni each pitched a scoreless innings in relief for New Hampshire.

The homestand continues on Monday night at 6:35pm with the first of four games with the New Britain Rock Cats. RHP Bobby Bell (2-1, 6.00) starts for New Hampshire against RHP Deolis Guerra (1-1, 3.50).
