Thunder Lose on an Erie Walk-Off Home Run

Erie, PA- Max St. Pierre's walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off RHP Grant Duff gave Erie a 4-3 victory over the Thunder at Jerry Uht Park on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Trenton falls to 10-13.

Jose Gil's first home run of the season in the third inning gave Trenton an early 1-0 lead, but the run was given right back in the bottom frame, with Justin Henry scoring on a RBI triple from Erie OF Josh Burris.

Trenton took the lead in the sixth inning when Luis Nunez singled, moved to second base on an Austin Krum bunt, stole third base, and came in to score off a sacrifice fly from Daniel Brewer. To make it 2-Thunder. They'd get another run in the seventh when Brandon Laird led off with a double and was knocked in on a RBI single by Edwar Gonzalez to give Trenton a 3-1.

Phelps gave up one more run in the bottom of the seventh. He pitched seven complete innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out five.

After Josh Schmidt set the side down in order in the eighth, Grant Duff came in and gave up a one-out base hit to Audy Ciriaco. After striking out Michael Bertram for the second out, Duff surrendered an 0-2 fastball to Max St. Pierre, and the Erie catcher was able to hit it over the left field wall to walk off with the 4-3 win.

The Thunder are now 6-13 since starting the season 4-0. They have dropped four straight series.

The Thunder will travel to Akron and open up a four game series with the Aeros starting on Monday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Lance Pendleton will start for Trenton.
