Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, PA - Brent Citta extended his hitting streak to a season-high seven games for the Curve as he blasted four hits to lead Altoona past Erie, 3-2, in a rain delayed game on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Citta hit three singles and a triple in the game, knocking home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning. After an Oneil Cruz single and Mason Martin double to tie the game 2-2, Citta lined a ball to right field off reliever Henry Martinez (Loss, 2-1) to score Martin and put Altoona on top for good. It was the first four-hit night for the Curve this season.
With the game scoreless in the middle of the third, play was suspended with a 1:09 rain delay, running both starters from the contest. Altoona took the lead coming out of the delay with three straight singles to open the third inning. Daniel Amaral scored on a Ji-Hwan Bae single off SeaWolves reliever Joe Navilhon to give the Curve a 1-0 lead.
Erie captured the lead briefly in the fifth when John Valente scored on a fielders choice from Dane Myers. Myers then scored on a double from Jon Rosoff off Curve reliever Brad Case (Win, 1-0) to give Erie the 2-1 advantage. Case finished with two runs allowed in three innings of relief work.
Curve starter Travis MacGregor allowed no hits across three innings, walking two and striking out four. Hunter Stratton earned a hold on two scoreless frames with no hits allowed and three strikeouts before Yerry De Los Santos gained his second save of the season in a scoreless ninth inning.
