Curve Lose Extra Inning Battle

READING, PA - Phillies OF Michael Taylor crossed the plate in the bottom of the 11th to give Reading a 4-3 win over Altoona in the finale of a four game series at First Energy Park.

Taylor doubled in a run as part of a two run second inning, he finished the night 1-for-6 with a double an RBI and a run scored.

Curve C Steve Lerud singled in a run and starting pitcher Kyle Bloom helped out his own cause by singling home Lerud to even the game at two. After hitting a home run last night OF Jose Tabata continued swinging the bat well with a 3-for-5 night.

Pirates No. 1 prospect Pedro Alvarez returned to action Friday with a 1-for-3 effort at the plate with a double and two strikeouts.

Altoona (28-53) returns home for a six game home stand beginning Saturday night against Bowie. RHP Derek Hankins (0-2, 5.82) will be on the mound for Altoona and Ryohei Tanaka (0-0, 0.00) will make his first double-A start of the season for Bowie. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage starting at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

Following Saturday's game fans will be treating to an extended fireworks display as part of the Curve's Fourth of July celebration.
