Sens Use Longball to Pound Connecticut 9-2

The Senators earned a split in their four-game series with Connecticut on Friday night with a 9-2 win. Ofilio Castro and Joel Guzman had big nights, combining to drive in six runs in the Sens win.

Cory VanAllen pitched five innings in earning his second win of the season. Four relievers combined to go the final four innings allowing just a hit and striking out five.

VanAllen pitched out of two early jams by inducing doubleplays in the third and fourth innings.

Guzman and Castro both drove in runs in the first. Guzman had an RBI single in the third which was followed by Castro's two-run home run. In the sixth, Luke Montz hit a two-run home run to break the game open.

The Sens scored their final two runs in the ninth.

Castro had three hits, Guzman and Michael Martinez both had two hits for the Sens.

Harrisburg goes home to take on the Akron Aeros on Saturday night at Metro Bank Park. The 7:00pm start will see RH Luis Atilano take the hill for the Sens against RH Jeanmar Gomez for Akron.
