Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA- The Altoona Curve today announced a complimentary parking and shuttle service available to a limited number of fans attending the club's Fourth of July game at Blair County Ballpark (7:05 p.m. game). This Friday only, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and running through one hour following the conclusion of the Curve's post-game fireworks show, fans are invited to park at the Frankstown Armory parking lot and board complimentary shuttle buses to and from Blair County Ballpark. Parking at Frankstown Armory is limited to 200 spaces.
In addition to running before and after the 7:05 p.m. Curve game, shuttle service, provided by Fullington Transportation, will run at regular intervals throughout the game.
Fans wishing to park at the Parking Garage located between Blair County Ballpark, Lakemont Park and Galactic Ice can still do so by paying the regular $2 fee. Parking in the ballpark's VIP Lot is reserved only for fans holding VIP Parking Lot passes, dated July 4.
"We have been working hard on methods to alleviate the potential traffic congestion in the area surrounding the ballpark on the Fourth of July and I think we have found a terrific alternative for fans thanks to the cooperation of the Frankstown Armory and Fullington Transportation," said Curve General Manager Todd Parnell. "Our goal is for fans to be able to attend our Fourth of July game and enjoy our spectacular fireworks show and all of the great promotions we have planned without having to worry about fighting traffic on the way out of the ballpark. The complimentary parking and shuttle service is a great option for our fans attending Friday's game."
Ballpark gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7:05 game between the Curve and Harrisburg Senators (AA/Washington Nationals). Prior to the game, the Curve will unveil the franchise's Official Tenth Anniversary Team, which was selected by fans as part of on-line and in-stadium balloting throughout the first half of the 2008 season. After the game, the Curve will shoot off their biggest fireworks show of the season.
The Curve will remain at home over the Fourth of July weekend to continue their series against Harrisburg, which runs through Monday. On Saturday at 7:05 p.m. former Pittsburgh Steeler Louis Lipps will meet and greet Curve fans and sign autographs during the game, plus the Curve will hold a first-ever, post-game "Money Drop". 10 lucky fans will win the opportunity to grab $1,000, which will be dropped out of a helicopter. Sunday at 6:05 p.m., the Curve will host another spectacular post-game fireworks show and before the game fans are invited to take part in a team autograph session from 4:30 to 5. The homestand concludes on Monday with "Awful Night VI - Worseest Ever". Following each weekend home game (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), kids are invited to "Run the Bases" courtesy of Thomas Chevrolet of Bedford.
Great seats are still available for the Fourth of July game and all remaining 2008 Altoona Curve home games and can be purchased by calling (877) 99-CURVE, by visiting the BCB Ticket Office, or by logging on to AltoonaCurve.com and clicking one of the "BUY TICKETS" links on the home page.
