RHP Adam Mills Joins Sea Dogs

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have promoted right-handed pitcher Adam Mills to the Portland Sea Dogs from Single-A Lancaster. The Sea Dogs had an open roster spot after placing right-handed pitcher Matt Goodson on the disabled list June 30th. Mills will start tonight for the Sea Dogs against the Trenton Thunder at 7:05 PM at Waterfront Park in Trenton, New Jersey. Mills will wear uniform # 22, he is the 37th player to wear a Sea Dogs uniform this season.

The 23 year-old Mills, made 15 starts for the JetHawks this season posting a 7-4 record with an ERA of 4.43. He struck out 43 and walked 15 in 81.1 innings pitched. Mills spent the 2007 season with Single-A Lowell notching three wins in 15 appearances striking out 37 batters in 35.1 innings pitched and an ERA of 2.04. A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, he went 14-2 with a 1.01 ERA and 141 strikeouts in 18 starts in 2007. Named 2007 Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-American by Baseball America, Mills led the NCAA in ERA, tied for the lead in wins and ranked sixth in strikeouts in 2007. The Hagerstown, Maryland native was selected by the Boston Red Six in 8th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
