Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- Southeastern CT has a huge military presence and it's only fitting that the AmericanWarrior and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organizations have teamed up with their local team, the Connecticut Defenders for a patriotic day on Friday, July 11th.

"AmericanWarrior and Disabled American Veterans are excited to work together and support our Veterans and patriotism. We are thankful for the continued support of the Connecticut Defenders, who enabled us to generate over $600 during last year's fundraiser and a projected $1000 this year. This is a great patriotic event to celebrate our Veterans and patriotism" said Founder Chris Coutu

AmericanWarrior was founded in 2005 to support Veterans, Armed Service Members and Patriotism. The organization has partnered with the Defenders in a fundraiser to help send WWII Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their Memorial, before it's too late. Friday, July 11th will feature a patriotic theme with the first 333 kids receiving an American Flag. Patriotic tributes during pre-game ceremonies include WWII, Korean and other veterans receiving the Connecticut War Time Service Medal, the playing of the Military Branch Medleys, and a local WWII Veteran throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

"We are proud to help in anyway we can to assist these brave men and women. Chris has done a great job spear heading these efforts and we are glad to have the opportunity to be included," said Defenders General Manager Charlie Dowd.

The Defenders will take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays at 6:35pm. Fireworks will culminate this patriotic day following the game.
