C's Back To Winning Ways After 5-4 Victory In Everett

July 16, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - Canadians CF Andrew Guillotte went 3-for-5 with a run scored and LHP Brandon Hinkle went three scoreless innings in relief as Vancouver snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Northwest League leader in wins, the Everett Aquasox.

The Canadians jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with 1B Justin Atkinson and 2B Lane Thomas connecting on back-to-back doubles and run scored.

Everett would chip away and tie it in the bottom of the 4th inning when Canadians reliever RHP Josh DeGraaf allowed a pair of walks and three base hits including a two-run double off the bat of RF Logan Taylor.

Vancouver would regain the lead in the top of the 8th inning when 3B Carl Wise doubled and later scored on a sharply hit baseball from RF Sean Hurley. In the top of the 9th, Vancouver got a much needed insurance run when PH Gabriel Cenas hit a rare triple to left field and scored on a base hit back up the middle from CF Andrew Guillotte that gave Vancouver a 5-3 lead.

That run would prove helpful as Canadians closer RHP Andrew Case allowed a leadoff double to Everett's RF Logan Taylor who later scored on a SS Erick Mejia ground out, which would result in the game's final run.

With the victory, Vancouver snaps a franchise record nine straight defeats and improves the Canadians to 9-18 (.333) over the first 27 games of the Northwest League season, eight games back of Everett who fall to 17-10 (.630).
