Cruz Named AA Batter Of The Week

The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Sioux City OF Jacob Cruz has been named the Pointstreak Batter of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

Cruz signed with Sioux City on August 9th and wasted no time in making his presence felt throughout the Explorers' lineup. Cruz recorded a hit and an RBI in all seven games he played during the week, reaching base three times or more in five of the games.

On the week, he hit .552 (16-for-29) with a .606 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Cruz tallied 15 RBI on the week and seven of his 16 hits fell for extra bases, including four doubles and three home runs. The 37-year-old spent parts of nine seasons in Major League Baseball.
