EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Lake Erie Crushers swept a doubleheader from the Evansville Otters, winning the continuation of a suspended game 5-3 and following it up with a 4-2 win in the scheduled seven-inning affair.

CRUSHERS 5, OTTERS 3 - Game One

Joel Collins opened the scoring in the second inning for the Crushers. Eddie Tisdale doubled with one out in the frame and Collins worked the count full against Evansville starter Angelo Morales before parking an offering over the left field wall for his first homer of the season. The Otters answered in the bottom of the inning, tying the game with three straight hits, the last of which was a two-run double off the bat of Brandon Cohen.

The game entered a delay in the bottom of the fifth inning. Travis Risser faced three batters before one of the light towers in right field went dark. The contest was delayed for over an hour before play was suspended. Jeff Cinadr took over on the hill as play resumed on Saturday. He allowed a single to the first batter he faced, Jake Rogers, that scored Pat Rose and put Evansville ahead for the first time at 3-2.

The Crushers responded in their first at bat following the suspension. Facing reliever Eduardo Perez, Eddie Tisdale induced a leadoff walk. Joel Collins tallied his third hit of the game, a double to left, to place runners at second and third. Following a walk to Arden McWilliams, Raphael Turner was able to again put Lake Erie on top with a two-run single to left. Wayne Bond executed a squeeze in the ninth to push across the final runs.

Jeff Cinadr won in relief as the All-Star upped his mark to 2-1. J.J. Pacella tossed the final 1.1 for his fifth save. Joel Collins finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Drew Saylor and Jodam Rivera recorded two hits apiece.

CRUSHERS 4, OTTERS 2 - Game Two

The Crushers wasted no time in jumping ahead in the second contest. Dom Duggan reached on an error, was sacrificed to second and crossed the plate on a single off the bat of Andrew Davis. Eddie Tisdale followed with an opposite field double, his league best 16th of the year, and Lake Erie led 2-0. Evansville scrathed a run across in the bottom of the frame without a hit as Estee Harris walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout.

Arden McWilliams drew a two-out walk in the top of the fourth inning. Raphael Turner continued the solid start to his professional career with his first career extra-base hit, a double to right center to score McWilliams from first. Lake Erie starting pitcher Josh Roberts ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth. He walked three straight hitters with two outs including a bases loaded walk to Derek Wiley to force in a run and bring the Otters within 3-2. Andrew Davis made a leaping catch at third to snare a liner that may have tied the contest to conclude the fifth.

Davis led off the sixth inning with his fifth homer of the season, tying Arden McWilliams for the team lead by clearing the wall on the first offering of the frame from Otters starter Chad Edwards. Matt Smith pitched the final two innings to record his first save as the team's leader in wins appeared in relief for the third time. Andrew Davis posted hits in all three of his plate appearances and drove in two.

The Crushers (27-20) will conclude the first half of 2010 with a day game tomorrow against the Otters (16-30). RHP Phil Rummel (2-4, 5.71) takes the ball for the Crushers while Evansville counters with All-Star RHP Nick Sottung (3-1, 2.51). First pitch is slated for 2:05 p.m. Eastern.
