AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers were defeated in the final game of a three-game set at Mercy Health Stadium against the Washington Wild Things Monday afternoon.

The Crushers (1-3) only mustered one run off of seven hits in Monday's contest, as the Wild Things (2-3) delivered another fantastic day on the mound.

Washington starter Ryan Hennen (1-0) dominated on the rubber, striking out eight batters along the way. Hennen allowed a single hit in his five innings of work; however, Bryan De La Rosa was the man able to come through with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning.

Before that crowd-lifting moment, Washington did some work of its own. The first inning started smoothly for the visitors, with the Wild Things cashing in two runs. A Derek Reddy single, a Cody Erickson walk, followed by Brailen Jackson's RBI single to start the action had the Wild Things off and running. An error by Trevor Achenbach led to an extended inning for Washington in the batter's box. John Sansone brought Erickson across home plate with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Washington added more in the second inning. Four base hits in a row from Reddy, Erickson, Jackson, and Grant Heyman created a four-run lead for the men in the black jerseys.

The bottom of the second included the aforementioned solo shot by De La Rosa. That is all the Crushers would find in the run department after nine innings.

The top of the fifth inning granted a one-out triple to Heyman, and he would eventually score off a Sansone single to left field.

Pick up in the seventh inning, as the Wild Things sparked another offensive attack. Two runs came home to score as Heyman had a leadoff single followed by a double in the name of Hector Roa that scored Heyman. Roa was the next man to cross the plate on Trevor Casanova's knock into right field.

All of the batters in the lineup for the Wild Things reached base safely. The only hitter unable to reach base today for the Crushers was the first baseman, Zack Gray.

Right-hander Michael Austin pitched the final four innings for Washington, allowing six hits and fanning three Lake Erie batters.

Crushers' starter, Paul Hall Jr. (0-1), received the loss with four and one-third innings pitched, nine hits, five runs (four earned), and a trio of strikeouts. Sam Curtis came in for a relief appearance in which he allowed three hits and two runs to score. Curtis tallied five strikeouts.

Ean Walda pitched the final two innings for the Crushers. He did not allow a hit and recorded three strikeouts in an impressive couple of innings of work.

The Crushers are back in action Tuesday night on the road against the Evansville Otters. The first pitch is set for 7:35.
