Lake Erie Crushers News Release

Kalamazoo, MI - It was a great night for the Lake Erie Crushers as they scored on the Kalamazoo Kings early and often in a 13-1 demolition at Homer Stryker Field.

Lake Erie started the onslaught in the second inning as they picked up a run on a passed ball and on an RBI ground out by Eddie Tisdale to take a 2-0 lead on the Kings. They would take advantage of a pair of Kalamazoo runs in the third, as Luke Hetherington and Arden McWilliams would each hit RBI singles to give the Crushers a 4-0 advantage.

The game would be put out of reach in the fifth inning as Lake Erie would plate three more runs. Eddie Tisdale and Brad Griffiths hit run scoring singles and the Crushers would also score a run on an error to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

In the meantime, Crusher started Brent Lysander was dominating on the mound as he worked a season-high seven innings allowing a run on six hits with six strikeouts to earn his third win of the season. "He was strike one all night long," said Crusher skipper John Massarelli. "You could tell the confidence was there from him and it was good to see."

The hit parade continued in the final three innings as the Crushers would tack on six more runs. Wayne Bond hit a two-run single in the seventh, McWilliams added a three-run double in the eighth and Andrew Davis closed the scoring with an RBI groundout in the ninth. McWilliams had 4 RBI for the Crushers, while Tisdale and Bond each had 2 RBI.

The two teams will finish the series on Tuesday night at 7:05 at Stryker Field. Paul Fagan will get the start for the Crushers against Kalamazoo's Joe DiPietro.
