Rockford RiverHawks News Release
LOVES PARK, Ill. - Former Cy Young Award winner Lamar Hoyt and current Chicago Blackhawk Jack Skille are among five additions to the lineup for the Jim Beam Cubs/White Sox Legends Game.
The Rockford RiverHawks announced Monday the latest additions to the game featuring former Chicago baseball stars. Greg Pryor, Hoyt's onetime White Sox teammate, and former Cubs Ed Lynch and Tim Stoddard are also on the guest list.
The RiverHawks also announced that Jim Beam is the title sponsor of the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. July 14 at Road Ranger Stadium.
The RiverHawks will host the event as part of their two-day Frontier League All-Star celebration. Tickets, which include admission to that night's All-Star Home Run Derby, are $15 for infield and home-plate box seats, $10 for outfield box. A two-day pass, which includes admission to the July 15 Frontier League All-Star Game, is $25, $20 for outfield box. Tickets for all All-Star events are available at the stadium box office, by calling (815) 885-BALL, or by online purchase at the team website.
Hoyt won the American League Cy Young Award in 1983, when he was 24-10 for the West Division champion Sox. Hoyt, a 98-game winner in an eight-year career, was an All-Star in 1985. He also pitched for the San Diego Padres.
Pryor played infield for the Texas Rangers, the White Sox and the Kansas City Royals in a 10-year career. He was a .250 career hitter.
Lynch pitched for the New York Mets and the Cubs in an eight-year career. He was twice a 10-game winner.
Stoddard began his 13-year career with the Sox in 1975, but is remembered best by Chicago fans for his one season on the North Side. He was 10-6 for the 1984 NL East-winning Cubs.
Skille, a former Rockford Icehog, has played 24 games for the Blackhawks over the last two seasons.
Former Cub Bob Dernier and Steve Trout, who pitched for both Chicago teams, will be the team captains. The Cubs' roster includes Warren Brusstar, Jody Davis, Randy Hundley, Keith Moreland and former batting champion Willie Wilson. The roster for the Sox is scheduled to include 1983 American League Rookie of the Year Ron Kittle, Carlos May, Don Pall and Dan Pasqua.
The Home Run Derby follows the Legends Game at 8:30 p.m.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 17th season. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
