Syracuse, NY (January 15, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch, along with Northland Communications announced The American Red Cross as the business of the month for December.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its' congressional charter and the principles of the International Red Cross Movement.

The Onondaga-Oswego Chapter of the American Red Cross is one of the oldest and largest resource agencies in the area. Founded in 1881, the Syracuse/Onondaga Chapter was the third Red Cross created and the organizations founder, Clara Barton traveled to Syracuse for the initial meeting. The people of the chapter are leaders in providing emergency and social services to the local community.

The services they provide include Disaster Relief Services, Armed Forces Emergency Services, International Services, Health & Safety Services, Youth Services and an energy Assistance Program known as Care and Share. They are able to provide these to the residents of our community through the generous gifts of peoples' time and financial donations.

Syracuse hosts Toronto on Friday, January 16 for Empire Vision Centers Poster Night. All fans in attendance will receive a Crunch poster, courtesy of Empire Vision Centers.
