Crawford's Clutch Hit Caps Comeback Win

Trenton Thunder News Release

Rashad Crawford delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning that capped a comeback from a four-run deficit for the Thunder, who defeated the Altoona Curve, 6-5, on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Crawford's clutch single came off Altoona reliever Yeudy Garcia (0-1) with the bases loaded and two outs and erased a 5-4 deficit. The Thunder (30-19) had trailed since the top of the fourth inning.

Chris Gittens had delivered the game's first run for the Thunder on a first-inning RBI-single. Thunder starter Rony Garcia retired 11 of the first 12 Curve (23-27) batters he faced before issuing a two-out walk in the fourth inning. An infield single and another walk then loaded the bases, and three consecutive hits produced five total runs, giving Altoona a 5-1 lead before a 25-minute rain delay.

The Thunder immediately chipped away at the plate, however. Gittens homered in the bottom of the fourth and Hoy Jun Park and Jorge Saez delivered RBI-singles in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively, bringing the Thunder within one run, 5-4.

Trevor Lane (3-0) earned the win, tossing a season-high three and one-third innings of scoreless relief, and Daniel Alvarez retired the final six Curve batters in order to record a two-inning save.

Brandon Wagner went 1-for-5, extending his on-base streak to 10 games.

Your Thunder continue their homestand on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the Curve. RHP Albert Abreu (1-4, 4.78) will start for the Thunder, and RHP James Marvel (4-5, 3.81) will go for Altoona. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
