Countdown to Face-Off
December 16, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
It's a battle of second place teams tonight at Wings Stadium, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Quad City Mallards. The K-Wings, who are 17-5-1 (35 points) on the season, are in second place in the Central Division, while the Mallards are currently in second place in the Western Division with a record of 10-9-4 (24 points).
Kalamazoo will be looking to extend their home winning streak to double-digits. The K-Wings, who are a perfect 9-0-0 at Wings Stadium, hold the longest home winning streak in the United Hockey League. Kalamazoo will also be looking to snap a two-game winless streak, as the team went 0-1-1 last weekend in two games against the Missouri River Otters.
Quad City has been accustomed to life on the road. Tonight is game six of a nine-game road swing for the Mallards. The game against Kalamazoo will be the 16th road test for Quad City this year, which ties them with the Elmira Jackals for most road games in the league. Thus far, the Mallards are 1-3-1 on their current road swing.
