Countdown to Face-Off
April 3, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings will conclude their four-game road swing today with a battle against the Quad City Mallards. Today's is the second consecutive game between Kalamazoo and Quad City. Yesterday, the K-Wings defeated the Mallards 4-3 in a shootout at The Mark of the Quad Cities.
Kalamazoo tied the UHL record for consecutive road wins with their 11th straight victory last night. Today, the K-Wings are looking to break the five-year record currently held by them and the 1990-00 Quad City Mallards and the B.C. Icemen.
Despite their shootout loss last night, by receiving a point, the Mallards have inched closer to a playoff spot. Quad City, who is currently one point behind the Missouri River Otters for seventh place in the UHL, can move within to a point of clinching a playoff spot with a victory over the K-Wings.

Just Win Baby
The K-Wings are on a nine-game winning streak and are unbeaten in regulation in their last eleven games. In their last eleven games, the K-Wings have a record of 10-0-1. Both the win and unbeaten streaks are the longest current win and unbeaten streaks in the league.
Chasing History
Besides being unbeaten in their last 11 games, the K-Wings are also on an 11-game road winning streak. The 11-game road winning streak is a K-Wings UHL franchise record and ties an UHL record. A K-Wings victory would break the UHL record for consecutive road wins held by the K-Wings and the 1999-00 Quad City Mallards and B.C. Icemen.
How the West Is Won
The K-Wings have played well against the UHL's Western Division. On the season, the K-Wings are 24-6-2 against teams from the west.
On a Roll
Forward Andrew Luciuk enters today's game on lengthy point streak. Luciuk is on a seven-game point streak, which ties him with Yannick Carpentier's for the K-Wings longest point streak of the season. In his last seven games, the veteran forward has recorded an astonishing 15 points. Earlier this week, Luciuk was named the UHL Sher-Wood Player of the Week.
