
Wings Clip Mallards 4-3 in Shootout

Moline, IL- The Mallards dropped a 4-3 shootout to Kalamazoo on Saturday at The MARK as the Wings stretched their winning streak to nine games. The Mallards never trailed in regulation before losing in the shootout.
Mallards defenseman Donny Grover started the scoring with his first professional goal just 2:04 into the first period. Just 2:17 after Grover's goal, Jason Deitsch scored for the Wings to even the game at a goal apiece. Jamie Thompson regained the Mallards lead with his 22nd goal of the season on a 4-on-3 power play at the 11:07 mark of the opening period.
In the second, the teams traded goals. Jason Deskins recorded his 27th goal of the season 5:12 into the period. Deskins also had a pair of assists on the night to give the third-year forward 15 points (six goals and nine assists) in his last seven games.
The Wings scored a pair of four-on-four goals to even the game at three. Kory Karlander tallied with 6:47 left in the second and Dan Price scored 16:19 into the third to tie the game.
In the shootout, Kalamazoo netminder Chad Alban shutout four Mallards shooters while Shaun Fisher and Dan Price scored for the Wings.
The Mallards host a rematch with the Wings tomorrow at The MARK. It's ALCOA Family Learning Day along with the return of the 4-for-$40 ticket package. Professionals from throughout the Quad Cities will be in attendance to speak to area youth about the importance of education. For $40, fans can receive four upper sideline tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs.
