Countdown to Face-Off
December 15, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings start a three game home stand tonight against the Richmond RiverDogs. Kalamazoo is 5-1-0 lifetime against the âDogs, including a perfect 3-0-0 at Wings Stadium; however, Richmond defeated Kalamazoo 5-2 back on December 5th in Richmond in their previous meeting this season.
The K-Wings are flying high after demolishing the Rockford IceHogs 6-0 in Rockford last Sunday. Kalamazoo will be without the services of Greg Labenski, who was called up to the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League yesterday. The K-Wings are led by Sean Starke and Yannick Carpentier. Both Starke and Carpentier lead the team in goals scored with seven. Starke leads all rookies in the UHL with a 25 percent shooting percentage, which also places him tied for second in the league overall. Besides being tied for the team lead in goals, Carpentier leads the team in assists (14) and points (21).
For Richmond life on the road has been going well. Tonight is game three of a seven game road swing for the âDogs, who are 1-0-1 on the trip thus far. Like the K-Wings, Richmond has a marksman on the roster, as Ryan Prentice leads all UHL players with a 30.8 percent shooting percentage. Tonight's game is the first of two at Wings Stadium this week for Richmond. The RiverDogs will return to Kalamazoo to battle the K-Wings this Saturday.

The Big Labenski

Up to Three
Forward Kevin Kotyluk has extended his scoring streak to three games. The three game streak is the longest current streak on the K-Wings roster; however, it's still two games shy of tying the K-Wings season high scoring streak of five games set by Yannick Carpentier.
That's What Willis is Talking About
Forward Tyler Willis needs just one more point to reach 200 for his career. Willis moved closer to the plateau with a three point night last Sunday in Rockford.
Home Sweet Home
The K-Wings will begin a three game home stand tonight versus the Richmond RiverDogs. Kalamazoo will get used to playing at Wings Stadium, as six of their next nine games will be played at home.
