Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Countdown to Face-off Kalamazoo Wings Vs Rockford IceHogs Wings Stadium Kalamazoo, MI Saturday, March 22, 2003 7:30 PM
Game Preview The K-Wings will be fighting for their playoff lives tonight as they host the Rockford IceHogs at Wings Stadium. With four games remaining in the regular season the K-Wings will need to win out the remainder of their schedule and hope that both Rockford and Flint lose the remainder of their games in regulation.
Kalamazoo enters the game in fifth place in the Western Conference eight points behind Rockford and six points behind Flint for the final playoff spot in the UHL. With the first tiebreaker being head to head meetings, the K-Wings need to win outright over Flint, and a victory tonight over Rockford would make the K-Wings 4-4-0 against the IceHogs.
Rockford has been on fire of late, as the Hogs carry a 3 game winning streak into the game. First time Head Coach Scott Burfoot has kept the IceHogs in the playoff hunt since taking over for Scott Bell on February 13th. The IceHogs are 9-5-2 under Burfoot command, and looking to go 2-0-0 against Kalamazoo, however, to do that Rockford will have to do what neither team has been able to do this season, which is win on the others home ice. In the seven previous meetings this year, the home team has won each game.
