
Bandits blank Fish, 5-0

Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
Tyrone Garner recorded his third shutout against the Kingfish while the Bandits used goals from five different players in a 5-0 win over the Kingfish.
Jackson opened the scoring early in the first on a power play as Eric Fortier lifted a loose puck over an outstretched Jeff Blair just 2:38 into the period. Josh Olson and Brent Gauvreau picked up the helpers on the power play goal.
Gauvreau extended the Bandits lead to two goals as he punched a centering pass from Mike Vigilante past Blair at the 8:03 mark of the second period. Nick Theriault also added an assist on the goal.
Josh Olson picked up a rebound and fired it past Blair to give the Bandits 3-0 lead early in the third period. Eric Fortier added the assists on the goal at the 3:55 mark of the period.
Two minutes later, Scott Kelman slipped around an outstretched Blair and slipped the puck past the Kingfish netminder to give the Bandits a 4-0 lead. Josh Olson and John McNabb picked up the helpers on the goal.
Vigilante gave the Bandits a 5-0 lead as his turnaround slap shot beat Blair with just 57 seconds left in the final period. Mike Rice and Gauvreau added the assists on the goal.
The Kingfish were again held off the scoreboard for the fourth straight game as they went 0-5 on the power play.
The Kingfish are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Biloxi to take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Catch all the action on Baton Rouge's Best R & B, 104.5 WZRB beginning with the Kingfish pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
