PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce 2005-born forward Nolan Chastko has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.
Chastko, 16, was added to the Cougars' 50-man protected list prior to Training Camp. The Brandon, Man. product is currently playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings U18 AAA in the Manitoba U18 Hockey League (MU18HL). The 5'8," 145-pound forward is having a terrific season, as he has amassed 81 points (53g-28a) in just 42 games. Chastko is currently third in team and league scoring but is the top goal scorer in the MU18HL.
"Nolan had a strong training camp in September and since had had exceptional season in Manitoba," said Cougars' Director of Scouting Bob Simmonds. "He has shown the ability to be a true goal scorer. His overall play has earned him this opportunity. We are thrilled to welcome Nolan and his family to the Cougars organization."
Chastko has played his entire minor hockey career in Brandon. Last season, as a 15-year-old at the U18 level, Chastko had 10 points (7g-3a) in eight games during the pandemic shortened 2020-21 season.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow, Friday, February 25th, as they kick-off a weekend doubleheader against the Portland Winterhawks at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at the TicketsNorth box office at the CN Centre, or online at www.ticketsnorth.ca.
