Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - Saskatoon Entertainment Group (SEG) is thrilled to announce a monumental technological upgrade at SaskTel Centre in the unveiling of a new video scoreboard hanging above the ice.
It'll be impossible for Saskatoon Blades fans to miss the arena's newest toy as they enter the building, with 6.6 million pixels illuminating the entire complex and vastly improving the game experience for every Blades fan.
"This new scoreboard is going to revolutionize the way hockey fans take in a Blades game," exclaimed Saskatoon Blades GM & President Colin Priestner. "We have some of the best fans in the WHL, and they deserve a world-class experience at SaskTel Centre. They'll experience it first-hand on Sunday, when we officially unveil the new board ahead of our game against Moose Jaw."
Construction of the new scoreboard took place over the last several weeks, while the team was vacated from the building on a road trip. This included the dismantling of the previous scoreboard, which hung from the rafters since 2009.
Weighing in at 13,800 lbs and standing 5.5 meters tall, the new-and-improved score clock stacks up as one of the finest and technologically advanced in the Western Hockey League.
"We knew it was time for an upgrade," added Priestner. "This is part of our continued commitment to this city and the community since launching SEG, and incorporating our newest agreement with SaskTel Centre. We're thrilled with the finished product and can't wait to show it off this weekend."
Blades fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for Sunday's game online at ticketmaster.ca, and stick around for a post-game skate with the team after the final buzzer.
