Cougars Select Forward Bartek Bison 20th Overall in the 2015 CHL Import Draft

Prince George, B.C. - Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins announced today that the Prince George Cougars have selected 1998-born forward Bartek Bison (Amsterdam, NED) with the 20th overall selection in the 2015 CHL Import Draft.

Bison checks in at 6'3", 187 pounds and played last season with Jungadler Mannheim in the German Development League (DNL). In 29 games last season with the Jungadler Mannheim U19 team, the 17-year-old Bison scored four goals, and added four assists along with 39 penalty minutes playing alongside and against players two years older. In four playoff games, Bison scored one goal and added two penalty minutes. He suited up for The Netherlands in the Division 2A Under-20 World Junior Hockey Championships and registered three points (2G, 1A) and was a +3 in four games. In 2013-14, he split his time with the Jungadler Mannheim U-16 (9G, 10A, 16 GP) and U-18 (1G, 2A, 20 GP) teams where he combined for 10 goals, 12 assists and 134 penalty minutes in 36 games. Jungadler Mannheim won the DNL league championship in each of the past two seasons.'

"Bartek comes highly recommended as a top junior player. He's committed to the game. He moved from Amsterdam to Mannheim to start pursuing his NHL dream and now his NHL pursuit will bring him to Prince George."

Harkins adds, "Bartek is a player that likes to get to the hard areas to score goals. He's got great hands and is very good in small spaces. His big body will be a presence around opposing team's nets."

Recently Bartek Bison was drafted by the USHL's Madison Capitals in the 21st round (328th overall) of the 2015 USHL Entry Draft.

The Prince George Cougars are scheduled to make their next selection in the second round (80th overall) in the 2015 CHL Import Draft.
