October 21, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince George Cougars News Release

After eight days of no game action, The Prince George Cougars return to action as they host their division rival Kamloops Blazers at 6:00 pm at the CN Centre. Tonight marks the first of eight meetings between the Cougars and Blazers.

The Cougars are coming off a 5-4 setback to the Kelowna Rockets last Friday night (October 13th) at Prospera Place by a 5-4 score. Zac Funk scored twice in the setback, while Carlin Dezainde and Koehn Ziemmer added singles. Ty Young was charged for the loss in goal, making 20 saves on 25 shots. "I thought we had more emotional involvement in the third period and it really showed," commented Associate Jim Playfair following the loss to Kelowna. "10 games in, it's been a decent start for our group, but I think the next challenge is to recognize that teams are going to be bringing their best effort every night."

The Blazers currently hold a 1-7-2 record ten games into the regular season. They are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers last night at the Sandman Centre.
