Saskatoon, SK - Goalie Austin Elliott took over the highlight reel helping lift the Saskatoon Blades to a 2-1 victory Saturday at the Peavey Mart Centrium over the Red Deer Rebels.

The Strathmore, AB product was sensational between the pipes, his most notable save coming in the third period to keep the game at 2-1. Elliott stopped 26-of-27 shots, remaining undefeated on the year with a 6-0 record.

Saskatoon's big dogs got it done once again on the offensive side, with forwards Trevor Wong, Egor Sidorov, and defenceman Tanner Molendyk combining for five points on the evening.

The Blades are winners of six straight games, improving to 8-2-0-0 on the season, now first in the Eastern Conference with 16 points.

The Blades came into tonight's contest 10/25 on the powerplay in their last six games. 6-foot-3 forward Easton Armstrong added another one on a 4-on-3 powerplay for his first goal with the Blades since being acquired from the Wenatchee Wild on Oct. 10th. The Los Angeles, CA product thought he had his first in a 7-0 win vs the Edmonton Oil Kings on Oct. 11th, but the boxscore changed it to forward Jordan Keller. Armstrong parked his big frame in front of Rebels goalie Rhett Stoesser and tapped home a nifty feed from Captain Trevor Wong to make it 1-0 5:37 into the game. With assists on the goal, both Wong and defenceman Tanner Molendyk extended their point streaks to nine and six games respectively.

The Rebels answered back on a powerplay of their own a little over halfway through the frame. Delisle, SK's own Jhett Larson scored his third of the year, giving him four points in ten games this season. Both teams headed to intermission with one goal a-piece.

Red Deer came out controlling play in the second period, but the Blue and Gold were able to regain their lead. Anaheim Ducks draft pick Egor Sidorov scored his seventh goal of the season with both assists once again going to Wong and Molendyk. The 6-foot sniper has a goal in four straight games, and has a point in all eight games this season. Sidorov is now tied for the team-lead in goals alongside Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick Brandon Lisowsky, and owns 12 points on the year. Sidorov's goal sent the Blades into the final 20 minutes with a 2-1 lead.

A quiet third period saw the Rebels outshoot the Blades 6-5, but netminder Austin Elliott went super saiyan with an out of this world save to keep the Blades up by one.

The Rebels sent the extra attacker out in the final two minutes of the game, but the Blades gave them nothing and secured the 2-1 win.

What's Next?

The Blades welcome Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Brayden Yager and the Moose Jaw Warriors to SaskTel Centre Tuesday, Oct. 24th. Fans will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat around the arena throughout second intermission, and capitalize on $2 hot dogs all night long.

Puck drop is 7:00pm
