KENT, WA - Carter MacAdams scored and Taylor Gauthier made 30 saves, but the Prince George Cougars fell 3-1 to the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent, WA on Tuesday night.
The Cougars (7-12-0-0) continue their U.S. Division trip Wednesday against the Portland Winterhawks (7-10-2-1).
Jordan Gustafson, Jared Davidson, and Mekai Sanders scored for the Thunderbirds (13-6-1-0) who now have won back-to-back games. Goaltender Thomas Milic stopped 14 shots.
Gustafson opened the scoring late in the first period for Seattle after he got a piece of Jeremy Hanzel's point shot at 18:18. The Cougars wasted little time responding.
MacAdams tied the game 1-1 just 59 seconds after the T-Birds scored. Kyren Gronick fired a pass out of the corner and fed MacAdams in the slot who buried his fourth goal of the season underneath the arm of Milic.
Seattle broke the 1-1 deadlock eight-minutes into the middle frame. Seconds after the Thunderbirds had a power play expire, it was Davidson ripping a one-timer over Gauthier's shoulder at 8:17 to make 2-1 for the T-Birds.
Sanders added an insurance marker late in the second, as he capitalized on a neutral zone turnover. Sanders came down the right-wing and rifled a wrist shot upstairs at 17:31 to make 3-1 for Seattle.
Tempers flared in the second, as Craig Armstrong had a spirited bout with Seattle's Leon Okonkwo Prada.
There was no scoring in the third period as Seattle held the Cougars to just four shots in the final frame of regulation.
Game Notes: Prince George finished the month of November with a 2-8-0-0 record. Riley Heidt will play for a gold medal at the Capital City Challenge in Ottawa, ON. Heidt's Team Canada Red earned a 6-2 win over Ryker Singer's Team Canada White in semifinal action Tuesday. The gold medal game is 4:00 pm PT on Wednesday. Singer plays in the bronze medal game at 11:30 am PT.
