Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - After scoring at least eight runs in each game during their five-game winning streak, the Kane County Cougars cooled off with the weather Tuesday afternoon, getting blanked, 4-0, by the Beloit Snappers in the finale of a four-game series. The Cougars still won the set but they also ended a six-game home winning streak.    Starter Shawn Haviland (2-1) pitched a second straight quality start but scattered a career-high 10 hits and yielded four runs -- one earned. He gave up two in the sixth and two more in the seventh before leaving. Josue Selenis pitched three perfect relief innings in his stead.    The Cougars' offense had eight hits in the game but stranded nine runners, including two in the second and one in the sixth when they began those innings with two on and nobody out. They went 1-2-3 only twice. Matt Ray had three hits, and Steve Kleen and Grant Desme had two apiece.    The Cougars continue their 10-game homestand Wednesday night at 6 CDT with the start of a three-game series against the Lansing Lugnuts. Pedro Figueroa (2-0, 2.40) will oppose Chuck Huggins (0-1, 2.45).
