
Clinton Defeats Bees with Walk-Off Hit

Clinton, IA (April 28, 2009) - The Burlington Bees lost the series finale to the Clinton LumberKings 1-0 Tuesday night at Alliant Energy Field. With the loss, the Bees end up splitting the four-game series after winning the first two games.
The only run of the game came in the bottom of the ninth inning. Clinton third basemen Terry Serrano hit a game winning triple with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to score Mario Martinez and get the win for Clinton.
Manauris Baez got the start for the Bees and pitched well. In his first start of the season, Baez threw four innings scattering five hits with one strikeout and no walks. Blaine Hardy pitched the final five innings for the Bees. He allowed just the one run on two hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Hardy was the loser to move to 0-2 on the season.
The Bees had four hits in the game. Eric Hosmer had two of them for the Bees.
The Bees return home to Community Field for six games beginning Wednesday night. The Bees will welcome Peoria to Burlington for the first three games of the home stand.
