The Kernels open their third home stand of the season starting Wednesday, April 29th at 6:35 pm with six games against the West Michigan Whitecaps and Peoria Chiefs - here's a rundown of what you can expect each day:
April 29 - May 1 vs. West Michigan Whitecaps
The Kernels open a six game home stand against the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Midwest League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, on Wednesday, April 29. The Whitecaps are among the Eastern Division leaders and have won the MWL Championship in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Whitecaps is 6:35 pm.
It's a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday on April 30 when the Kernels and Whitecaps play at 6:35 pm. Twelve ounce draft beer is just $1.50 all game and tip the Fox DJ's as they're donating all the tips to a local charity. The Kernels welcome guests from Grant and Wilkins Elementary and Wilson Middle School to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
Baseball was meant to be played under warm sunny skies and the Kernels and Whitecaps celebrate May Day with a noon game on Friday, May 1st. Bring your thirst on Z 102.9 Progressive Beer Friday - 16 oz. draft beer starts at $1 when the gates open at 11 am and goes up a dollar an hour until reaching full price. The Kernels welcome groups from St. Ludmila's and Garfield to their school day at the stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 pm.
May 2-4 vs. Peoria Chiefs
The Kernels welcome the Peoria Chiefs, the Midwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, May 2nd for a three game series. The Kernels welcome groups from Coolidge Elementary and Jackson Elementary for their school night at the stadium. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Chiefs is set for 6:35 pm.
Sunday's are always a fun day and it's a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Day on May 3rd when the Kernels take on Peoria at 2:05 pm. Fans can get autographs from the Kernel players on the concourse from 1:20 to 1:40 pm; play Travel Advisors Baseball Vacation Bingo for a chance to win a trip to Anaheim in 2010; and play catch in the outfield and run the bases following the game. Youngsters can meet Cinderella, courtesy Glass Slipper Entertainment, on the main concourse during the game. The Kernels welcome Bowman Woods, Linn Grove and Echo Hill to their school day at the stadium. Gates open at 1:05 pm.
The home stand wraps up on Monday, May 4th on Health Care Professionals Night as the Kernels honor local health care professionals for the great services they provide in our community. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the Kernels and Chiefs play at 6:35 pm.
