Cougars and Chiefs suspended by rain

Peoria, IL - The Kane County Cougars' game Wednesday night against the Peoria Chiefs was suspended by rain in the third inning after an hour-long rain delay. The Cougars lead it 1-0, and the game will resume at 4 p.m. CDT on Thursday afternoon and will proceed with the original nine-inning format. The series finale, now a seven-inning game, will follow thereafter.
The Cougars own a 1-0 lead after Wes Long drove in Jeff Baisley in the top of the second. The delay began immediately after starter Vince Mazzaro recorded the final out of the second frame.
Kane County is scheduled to have Jeff Gray, Thursday's originally scheduled starter, finish the first game, and reliever T.J. Franco will pitch the second contest.
